A chef is an individual who cooks professionally for other people. He/she is an exceedingly skilled professional who is expert in all aspects of food preparation and food presentation. Although the word ‘chef’ is derived from the French term ‘chef de cuisine’, which means the head of a kitchen, however nowadays, it is often incorrectly used for any professional cook, irrespective of rank.

Collaborates with personnel and plan and develop recipes and menus. Supervises and coordinates activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation. Washes pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment; Portions, arranges, and garnishes food, and serves food to waiter or patron. Modifies work procedures or processes to meet deadlines. Schedules employee work hours; Directs and coordinates activities of workers or staff; Estimates materials or labor requirements; Washes, peels, cuts, and seeds fruits and vegetables; Weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients, season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment. Uses oral or written communication techniques; Inspects facilities or equipment for regulatory compliance; Inspects supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure conformance to health standards; Determines production schedules and worker-time requirements; Estimates amounts and costs and requisition supplies and equipment; Trains and instructs cooks and workers in proper food preparation procedures.

  • Divide the chef resume into separate sections and subsections along with short paragraphs and bulleted points so that it can be easily readable.
